Raised Tile

Within BTInet’s Tier IV data center is a floor that acts as a giant HVAC.  To be considered a Tier IV data center a minimum of a three foot deep raised floor is required

How does the raised floor work?

“We direct the cold air from the subfloor up to the front of our equipment racks through perforated tiles.  This allows us to control cooling within the data center.” says Jeremy Wittenberg; System Technician.

The two main issues that IT organizations deal with in their data centers are power consumption and cooling (Reynolds, 2008) In the design process of our new data center, we have strived to avoid those to issues by using under floor cooling which has in turn provided us with the option of using overhead cable handling space.
