Bismarck Preparing for Flood

Today our CEO authorized employees to go and help sandbag to protect our community.  Our Mayor John Warford has declared a flood emergency as the Missouri River continues to rise.  In the meantime, Governor Jack Dalrymple has called out the National Guard.

What does this all mean?  With the recent flooding concerns and the additional releases from the Garrison Dam, this leaves it very possibly to have “the No. 1 flood event for Bismarck.”

Lake Sakakawea upstream is full from all of the spring snowmelt and rain.  The Corps of Engineers are increasing water releases to the highest level since the Garrison Dam was built.  The National Weather Service is predicting that the Missouri River will crest above flood stage.

To ease our customers concerns, BTInet is safe from the Missouri River flooding.   We are all thinking about Bismarck and all that are in danger from the flood.  Many families are now being evacuated and having to leave their homes behind.
