Setting up email on a Droid

Your Motorola Droid phone includes two email clients, one for Gmail and one for other types of email servers including Microsoft Exchange, IMAP & POP3.  The following is an example of a step-by-step guide through setting up your email.

**With each new release of the Droid OS, there will be minor changes to these screens.  This will give you a basic idea of how to set up your email on your new phone.  Please call into our Helpdesk if you are having problems with your setup.

**Your new phone will possibly attempt to do an automatic setup.  We advise you, the user, to select the option for a Manual setup.   You will find your Manual Setup credentials at the end of this post.

  • Tap the upward pointing arrow to get the app menu
  • Tap on the EMAIL icon

 

  • Enter your email address and password,then tap NEXT
  • Select POP3 Account

 

 

  • Enter your Username, Password, POP3 server (pop.btinet.net)
  • Click on Security Type –  a new window will pop up and allow you to select the level of encryption

 

  • Once the security type has been selected the pop up window will close and you can continue.
  • Select when to delete email from servers; the options are “never” or “when I deleted from Inbox”, then tap Next
  • enter outgoing SMTP server settings (smtp.btinet.net)
  • if your smtp server requires you to login then check the box next to Require sign-in, enter your username and password and tap the next button

  • Name the account and input your display name

 

  • Email will begin synchronizing once the credentials and server information in entered correctly.

SSL:  Yes

Username:  Full E-mail address

Password:  Current password

Outgoing Server Type:  SMTP

Outgoing Server:  smtp.btinet.net

Port:  587

SSL:  Yes

Authentication Required:  Yes

Username:  Full e-mail address

Password:  Current password
